Webinar

Bioplastics characterization – Polymer applications using sub-micron simultaneous IR+Raman spectroscopy

Speaker:

Dr. Isao Noda
Chief Science Officer and Senior VP of Innovation at Danimer Scientific
Affiliated Professor at Science and Engineering at the University of Delaware

Guest Speaker:

Dr. Curtis Marcott
Senior Partner at Light Light Solutions
Danimer Scientific, Athens, Georgia
Deptartment of Materials, University of Delaware

Dr. Isao Noda and co-workers explore the spatial chemical distributions at the interface of a bioplastic (PHA/PLA) laminate at previously unattained levels of spatial resolution of a few hundred nm, Using O-PTIR coupled with Raman (IR+Raman), new insights at the interfacial boundary of PHA and PLA are reveal. Previously thought to be immiscible, using 2-D Correlation Spectroscopy (2DCOS) data analysis, a surprising degree of polymer mixing together with decreased crystallinity at the interface is revealed, thus potentially explaining the high compatibility of this two bioplastics.

In conjunction with Dr Curtis Marcott, who will introduce the breakthrough technique of O-PTIR and through discussion of a range of polymer application examples, will illustrate the advantages of O-PTIR.

The webinar will be recorded for later on-demand viewing with opportunities to ask questions during and after the webinar.
